Paul Varney - Flyfishers' Club
Paul started as a trainee at Monkey Island Hotel, Bray, and developed a passion for the hospitality business. Following a year in Switzerland, he joined the Savoy Group and worked at Stones Chop House, The Savoy, Claridges, The Berkeley and The Connaught. He association with Mayfair continued and he joined the Stafford Hotel with Terry Holmes. In 1985 he discovered Clubs and took on the Turf Club before moving to The Caledonian Club, as Club Secretary, in 1988 where he stayed for 20 years.
On leaving the Caledonian Club Paul provided consultancy and interim management to Clubs and membership organisations, with his first appointment as acting Secretary to the Special Forces Club. He then worked with the Drapers’ Livery Company to develop their hospitality department, before taking on consutlation for the Flyfishers’ Club. Since then he has continued to advise a number of the Clubs in London.
Paul is also a Trustee of the charity Greensleves Home Trust and sits on the Governing Council of the Mayfair and St James’s Association and also the Westminster Entertainment Forum.
