St James’s Church, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, was consecrated on 13th July 1684 by Henry Crompton, Bishop of London. St James’s is part of the Church of England and the world wide Anglican communion and is the parish church for an area in the heart of London’s West End which includes Piccadilly, St James’s, and parts of Mayfair and Soho. In addition to its regular services, St James’s hosts lunchtime recitals every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in addition to evening concerts, panel discussions, book launches and occasional exhibitions.

St James’s also hosts a market in the courtyard offering freshly cooked food every Monday (very popular with local office workers), and a combined food and antiques market every Tuesday. Then from Wednesday to Saturday, the market is dedicated to Arts and Crafts with up to 30 stalls offering a wealth of gift ideas from ceramics to knitwear and leather goods to jewellery.
